Post Falls, Idaho

Remember when Carol worked for Buck Knives prior to 1996, when they were located in El Cajon.  She loved working there and always felt like family!  About 5 years ago Buck Knives moved their business to Post Falls, Idaho.  With the move they brought about fifty employees with them.  This is the front entrance. 

We had the opportunity to tour the new plant, see many of the Buck Knives Family Carol used to work with, and buy some knives.

Here is some of the people Carol worked with some 13 years ago that are now up here in Post Falls.

This is Carol with Chuck Buck, President of the Company.  (Chuck is on the right of Carol.  The furry guy next to Carol threw a fit so we let him in on the picture too!)

Our first two nights we spent at Blackwell Marina/RV Park. The river was gorgeous!  We found that we needed one more night in Post Falls.  We were able to camp in the parking lot of Buck Knives.  We called this Camp Buck-A-Roo!  Although it was Labor Day Weekend, we had this place pretty much to ourselves.

Although the campground amenities lack a bit, the sun sets made up for it, and you couldn't beat the price!   Just a special note for our RV traveling friends, Buck Knives  has RV parking for those passing through who want to tour their plant.  We highly recommend this stop!

During our stay in the area we spent two wonderful nights visiting with our good friends Bob & Gayle Pinto.  Bob worked with Buck and moved up to Idaho with them.  He is their Facilities Manger. Gayle works for the Post Office. Being the outdoor enthusiast and sportsmen they love Idaho.

The extra night also gave us the opportunity to visit the Spokane Washington Temple which was only about fifteen miles from us.  We were also able to visit with a family friend Carla Laudermill and her family. 

We have campground reservations at Glacier National Park on Sunday.  Normally we don't travel on Sundays so we decided to travel a little over two hundred miles to a Walmart in Kalispell Montana.  We would then only have to drive about 25 miles on Sunday, right after church to get to our campground.  We left Buck Knives around 2PM.  About 4:40 PM we came to an abrupt stop because of this serious accident.

It was a head on accident. 

The accident happened just a few minutes before we got there.  I counted about 11 cars ahead of us at the time.  The road was completely blocked.

Earlier in the day we had stopped at a rest stop just miles before this and used the restroom and walked Rocky.  Had we left the rest stop just a few minutes earlier, we may have been involved in this.  There were at least two who lost their lives in this at the scene and they took at least three others by ambulance and helicopter. We don't know their conditions.  It took at least half an hour to cut out one of the people in the black SUV.  We were parked here for just over two hours before they let us by the accident scene.  We were lucky we had the motor home.  We were able to use the restroom facilities and even eat our dinner while we waited for them to clean up the mess.  Tomorrow we will be at Glacier National Park for four days and three nights before we head East.
