This was definitely on our bucket list to do. We wanted to do this for a long time. When we were in Asheville, North Carolina we would watch hot air balloons launch every morning as the sun raised from our campsite. They wanted $375 per person to ride with them. We didn't want to ride that bad, but with the Groupon deal, we both got a 1 hour plus balloon ride followed with a full on breakfast buffet after the ride for $105 each.
We started our day getting up at 4:15am in the morning so we had time to feed the dog and walk him before arriving at the meeting place at 5:30am. After a briefing, we all piled into the vans and headed for the launch area.
Once in the launch area, we helped to hold the balloon material open while they used large gas powered fans to inflate the balloon, then they used the burners to heat the air until the balloon raised enough to up rite the basket.
And it's up up and away! The lift off was so smooth. I expected it to be like riding on an elevator when it first takes off. NOT, I was adjusting one of my cameras when I looked down and noticed that we were about 15 feet above the ground.
Here are some of the views as we flew over Disney World and the surrounding areas.
Cameron, our pilot.
Reflection of one of our balloons off a pond as we flew over it.
Looking straight up into our balloon.
Back on the ground again!
Getting the air out of the balloon so we can pack it up.
