Fall at Heber Valley Camp

It's hard to believe it's fall already at HVC.  We have been so busy up here on our mission that I have to admit, I have slacked big time in keeping up on our blog. Here are some pictures of this beautiful place in the fall.

 

 

Normally you won't know what you will be called to do the following year until April of that year unless you are call as team leaders.  Carol and I were lucky enough to be called as team leaders as the Naturalist.  We given the news about three weeks before camp ends so that we can get together with this years naturalist and learn some of the job.  We took several hikes to learn the trail system.

 

On one of our hikes we came across  the Bombgardners, the couple we are going to replace next year.  Here is a picture of the four of us.  2012 and 2013 HVC Naturalist.

Just to give you a little bit of what we will be doing as the Naturalist.  We will be in charge of organizing the nature talks with the girls and the families during the year.  This last season, the Bombgardners gave 134 presentations on "All things bright and beautiful" lectures.  This is during about a four month period so you could give 3 to 4 lectures a day.  We will be busy this winter learning of some of the 116 bird species, hundreds of plant and flowers, animals and insects.  Next spring we will continue hiking the trails to learn of what types and species of plants and flowers will be in bloom.  We are looking forward to our new assignment at the camp.
